    Default Travel restriction by Air India.

    Now AI does not have connectivity to all destination.
    order says if destination is not connected then travel to station nearest to the eventual destination by AI.
    this may involve hops and multiple routes.
    eg. Travel to Bagdogra from Pune
    Pune-Mumbai-Kolkata-bagdogra { in this case kolkata is neaest station to eventual destination bagdogra}
    or Pune-Delhi-Bagdogra { this is shorter but, delhi is not nearest to eventual destination bagdogra?

    there is lot of anomolies in this order, and PAO/AO may not pass the bill on this pretext of route chosen due to deviation from order , even if travelled by AI and cost effective

    In all cases of deviation due to genuine reasons the ministry of aviation is eligible to grant exemption. You can apply for exemption from the ministry of civil aviation. http://civilaviation.nic.in.

    I would like to add an additional question on this. If there is an Air India flight connecting flight to the destination but necessitates a halt enroute will the hotel bills be admissible? If not, can we take a connecting flight by private airlines ,if available, to avoid the halt enroute? What does the rule say? Kindly clarify.

    Dear friend,

    As per the existing rules, journey made by Air India flights only will be eligible for claim, whether you halt enroute or not. During the journeys undertaken on tour (not LTC), the lodging expenses on such halt enroute (subject to limits of entitlement) will also be eligible.

    Thanks a lot for the clarification. Is there an order on this - Halt enroute? Kindly give the details of the order.

    I suppose the halt enroute is at the nearest hub point for your destination. From their to avoid halt enroute you can travel by other airlines, but you have to get sanction from ministry of civil aviation for getting the amount reimbursed/passed.
