Default Tax Liability on Reimbursement of Medical expenses under CGHS/ CS(MA) Rules.

I had recently undergone a bypass surgery and received Rs. 1.50 lac as reimbursement under CGHS.

I am now confused whether the same is required to be accounted for under Sec 80DDB etc. or is it free from income.

    Thanks

The medical reimbursement for treatment from CGHS empanelled Hospitals is exempt from Income Tax under proviso to Section 17(2) of Income Tax Act.
