Question Swachh Bharat on 2nd Oct.

Today, (30th Sept. 2014) we have received a circular from our Head Office, asking all the officers and staff members to attend the office (without fail) at 9 AM on 2nd Oct. 2014 and take a pledge (regarding cleanliness) at 0945 AM. After, that one may VOLUNTARILY participate in cleaning the office. There is no mention whether the holiday of 2nd Oct. has been cancelled and should attend for whole day. Some of the Union leaders (in other offices) expressed that they may not attend. Few of our colleagues have submitted leave for 2nd Oct. (though it is a National holiday) as they have already planned to leave the station due to long week end. Our G-connect members kindly comment and suggest whether 2nd Oct. is a national holiday and is it compulsory to attend the office. Thanks.

Default holiday on 2nd oct 2014

It seems instruction to attend office for the purpose of taking pledge is silmilar to office instructions for attending I.day and Republic day functions. As govt did not amend closed holiday list so far 2nd October is a holiday any way
