    Dear friend
from where u got this information. Though encouraging, i doubt on it.after revising the formula for calculation of DA, such increase in DA is not expected. I wish it is true.

    Dear Mr Jitendra/Mr PK
I think Mr PK is nearly correct!. In Oct 2008 itself 20.44 has been crossed. Rate of increase is a bit lower in Nov. and Dec. May be another 1 to 1.2 pts. So if not 6% increase, it is going to be certainly 5%!!!!

Default Expected DA for Central Government Employees

    Dear Jitenderjee,

It is based on formula suggested by Sixth CPC on the basis of All India Consumer Price Index-2001(Industrial). It can not be less than 6% in any case.

    Dear friends,
Consequent upon the recommendation (duly accepted and implemented by the Govt) by 6th CPC that DA would be reckoned twice a year, as on 1st of Jan and 1st of July and the same would be paid along with the salary for the month of March (not in the Month of March) and Sept, as the case may be.
Therefore, what ever the calculation be, I am afraid, we may have to wait till the first week of April to get the next DA. As for the figure, I agree with Shri VNjee in that the DA may have become at least 21 (16% as on 31.12.2008).
It appears, the CPC has missed sight of the fact that March salary is given only in April. Now, we may get DA twice in the FY 2009-10.
I wish, CPC recommended disbursement of DA in Feb and August. Is it not possible to calculate the percentage of DA by 15th of Feb and 15th of August(as the Pay Bills are normally prepared and get signed by 20th of the relevant Month.
    With regards,
    Badri

Default Expected DA from 01 Jan 09

    DA DUE FROM JANUARY 2009

    Jan-08 Feb-08 Mar-08 Apr-08 May-08 Jun-08 Jul-08 Aug-08 Sep-08 Oct-08 Nov-08 Dec-08

    134 135 137 138 139 140 143 145 146 148 148 148

DA calculation as on 01.01.2009 :

    12 monthly average of AICPI (IW) 2001 series, (year 2001=100) from 01.01.2008 to 31.12.08 = 141.715

    % DA calculation = (Avg AICPI base 2001 - 116)*100/116
    = (141.715 - 116)*100/116 = 22.16 %

    % DA after rounded off = 22 % effective from 01.01.2009

Default Expected DA from 01 Jan 09

AICPI for Dec 08 will be published on 30 Jan 09 at 1330 Hrs. Thereafter DA is ready to be announced officially. It is for the government to decide when to announce this. As far as my expectation goes, Vote on account will be undertaken in parliament on 15 Feb 09. Thereafter election will be announced and model code of conduct will be in force. If rate of DA is announced on 5th or 12 Feb 09 then it will be okey, otherwise it will be announced by next government.

    Dear friends,
Great and informative work (post # 7) and I thank skjjee.
The point I was trying to drive hokme was the accepted recommendation that the DA would be given twice, one with the salary for March (obviously the salary would be disbursed/credited only in the first week of April).
With all the calculations we may have on paper and in mind, we may get it (DA) only in the first week of April. Don't we know the saying, "Tomorrow is another day".
(Almost) All of us have got 40% of Arrears of Pay [under CCS(R.P) Rules 2008. And we all know that the Govt has declared that we would be given the remaining 60% in 2009-10. Can any one say with certainity exactly as when we would be given, given the economic situation our Government is in.

Before concluding, I pray to God to enable Pensioners to get Dearness Relief ( a la D.A) in time (without waiting till April first week).
    with regards,
    Badri.

Default Expected D.A. for Central Govt. Employees

    Dear SKjiaf,

Calculation u have done is absolutely correct. But the Average Price Index-2001 for the last twelve months which Govt. in its notification has accepted is 115.76 instead of 116. So DA comes around 22.45%.

It is seen from the index(12 months average) for the last one or two years it never goes down. It can either be equal to the previous month or higher. So it will be 148 or more for the month of Dec2008

See errata to SPC report, for the year 2006, 116 haas been used as base index instead of 115.76.

    Default Expected DA from 1.1.2009

Expected DA for Central Government Employees from 1.1.2009 - 22%
    - Staffcorner.com

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of November, 2008 remained stationary at 148 (one hundred and fortyeight).
During November, 2008, the index recorded maximum increase of 5 points each in Quilon and Madurai centres, 3 points each in Mysore, Ernakulam, Bhilwara and Coonoor centres, 2 points in 13 centres and 1 point in 14 centres. The index decreased by 1 point in 19 centres and 2 points each in Jalandhar, Nasik, Bhavnagar, Siliguri, Asansol and Howrah centres, while in remaining 20 centres the index remained stationary.
The maximum increase of 5 points in Quilon centre is mainly due to Fish, Fresh Vegetable Items and Washing Soap etc., while that in Madurai centre is mainly due to Rice and Vegetable Items. The increase of 3 points each in Mysore, Ernakulam, Bhilwara and Coonoor centres is due to Rice, Onion, Fish Fresh, Vegetable Items, Tea Readymade, Toilet Soap etc. While the decrease of 2 points each in Jalandhar, Nasik, Bhavnagar, Siliguri, Asansol and Howrah centres is due to decrease in the prices of Vegetable items, Mustard Oil, Groundnut Oil etc.

The point to point rate of inflation for the month of November, 2008 remained constant 10.45% at the level of October, 2008.
The CPI-IW for December, 2008 will be released on the last working day of the next month, i.e. 30th January, 2009.
