    Default Counting of Contract Service

    Sir,

An employee joined as Data Entry Operator on contract basis during November 2005.
Contract period was extended by the Govt till September 2012. Subsequently, he was relieved from service in order to take up a permanent post as Assistant in an another establishment.
Please clarify whether his service spent on contract period in the previous employment can be considered as qualifying service for terminal benefits in the new establishment at the
    time of superannuation.

Yes, the service on contract can be counted subject to meeting the conditions prescribed under Rule 17 of CCS(Pension) Rules, 1972.

The period for which Government contribution in the Contributory Providend Fund is admissible during the contract period, would be counted subject to fulfilment of conditions prescribed under Rule 17 of CCS(Pension) Rules, 1972.
