    Default Surrendering of CGHS Card

    1. A person surrendered his CGHS card citing spouse being working in BSNL in a plain application to the head of office and requested to stop deduction of his monthly CGHS contribution.

    Question
    1. what is the rule said about surrendering on the above mentioned reason?
    2. to whom head office should intimate about the surrendering of the CGHS card?
    3. how to confirm the final outcome of the above situation.

    Please reply.

    Thanks in advance

Solution was found in OM of MH&FW No. S.11011/6/92-CGHS Desk-I/CGHS(P) dt. 04.08.1994 for 'Opting Out' of CGH Scheme as follows:

light of O.M. of MH&FW No. S.11011/6/92-CGHS Desk-I/CGHS(P) dt. 04.08.1994 ‘where it has been decided that a Central Govt. employee whose spouse is serving in any organisation which provides medical facility to its employees and members of their family can opt out of the CGH Scheme and avail of medical facilities from the organisation in which his/her spouse is working’
