Default increment for higher qualification obtained

I am working as Foreman in NIT CALICUT. I have obtained a B.Tech degree. Am I eligible for any increment as the prescribed qualification for the post of Foreman is Diploma?. Please provide the rules and G.O for this.

The system of granting additional increments for acquiring higher qualifications has been replaced with the grant of a one time lump-sum incentive. For details refer to the following orders issued on the subject:

FR 27 GIO provides incentive for DIPLOMA in RELEVANT FIELD.

Now it needs to be adjudged if a diploma in Ind. relations has relevance to your present or next higher assignment.

Kindly refer to OM dated 9th April 1999 (http://persmin.gov.in/WriteReadData/...28Pay.1%29.pdf) in this regard. The order states that "....the qualification should be directly related to the functions of the post held by him/her or to the functions to be performed in the next higher post. There should be direct nexus between the functions of the post and the qualification acquired and that it should contribute to the efficiency of the government servant...".
