    Default Classification of posts?

    Dear Sirs,

According to Classification of Posts before and after 6 CPC, a Group B post is defined as under :

    By the V CPC

A posts with scale of pay with a maximum of not less than Rs.9000/- but less than 13500/-

and as per VI CPC -

    A post carrying a Grade Pay: Rs.5400, Rs.4800, Rs.4600 and Rs.4200 (PB-2)

Therefore, A post in the pre-revised scale of pay Rs. 5500-9000, (as per V CPC) which carries a Grade pay of Rs. 4200/- as per VI CPC , is Group B.

However, a Recruitment Rule in a department for a post carrying the said pay scale describes it as Group C.

    Extract is given below :

    Chargeman (Grade-I)
General, Central Service Group 'C' Non-gazetted, Technical
    Rs.5500-175-9000

    Any clarification(s)/comments?

    Rgds and Thanks,

    RKR

Kindly refer to OM dated 17th April 2009 in this regard (http://persmin.gov.in/WriteReadData/...Estt.(A)-2.pdf).

The revised classification is generic in nature and exceptions are allowed. However, the exceptions are required to be cleared by DOPT.
