    Lightbulb insight on how to invest in elss

    i will be very grateful if some of our knowledgeable contributors to the board can throw some light on how should a government employee benefit by investing in various tax saving elss ?

    GPF is the best option. Where a government servant can invest upto his basic+grade pay. Others are Post Office scheme, like, PPF, NSC. LIC is also an option. In addition Tuition Fee payment qualify for tax rebate. But maximum qualifying amount is Rs 1,00,000. In addition you can invest rs 20,000 in some infarastructure bonds, where you can get rebate over and above rs 1,00,000

    i totally agree with you sir. my wife also is a government servant and we are looking for some small investment which might be slightly more risky than gpf but can fetch better returns.

    Mutual fund is another option. Also through planning and study you can try your luck in Stock Market
