It is very simple. Take total of pay in the payband in June 2010 and Grade Pay. Here it is.
Pay in the payband in June 2010- 12440
    Grade pay - 4200
Total Basic Pay in June 2010 - 16640
    3% of Basic Pay - (16640*3)/100 = 499
Pay in the pay band in July 2010- 12440+499=12939 rounded off to next ten rupees =12940

While calculating increment, first calculate 3%, ignore paise and round off to next multiple of 10. In excel this formulae will calculate the increment =CEILING(ROUNDDOWN(A1*3%,0),10), where cell A1 contains pay+gp before increment.

    Dear Mr. Sasiji,

I am suggesting one more formula in excel sheet which is the same as you suggested. In our office it was the same problem as Ms. geetha stated. I had developed our pay bill in excel sheet (we input pay in pay band and grade pay in cells A1 and B1 respectively) and for calculating the increment, I suggested the establishment department the following formula which has worked well.

Please consider this as an additional information only.

    =CEILING(ROUNDDOWN((A1+B1)*3%,0),10)

    Regards
    Prasanna Kumar.

There were many requests from members for sharing PAY BILL PREPARATION PROGRAM and OTHER SIMILAR PROGRAMS (for use of accounts people). If possible, can any body share such programs with other members for their official use.
