the operation undergone prior to joining the service does not entitle the employee to the benefit.

Please see the link "http://postalinfo.blogspot.com/2010/07/family-planning-allowance.html. It says - "Incentive Increment is allowed for adopting small family norms even before regular appointment in the Central Govt.service." by Hon' CAT, Ernakulam Bench

    Dear friend,

The incentive for maintaining small family norms will be admissible only if the sterilization is undergone during the period os service in the Government. The case law referred above is not relevant to the reported case of the querist.

    Sir,
    Kind attention : tvenkatam
Please elaborate on your above post that incentive is admissible in this case.

    My another query -

    1) Whether the Family Planning Allowance is granted only to the employee who has undergone sterilization when both husband and wife are Government employees?

    2) When the claimant of the Family Planning Allowance is on deputation to a higher post and his/her spouse, also a Government employee, has undergone sterilization during the period of deputation of her/his spouse, is the spouse on deputation is eligible for grant of Family Planning Allowance against the higher grade pay in the deputation post or the lower grade pay in the parent cadre will be considered for the purpose?

    3) In case the grant of Family Planning Allowance is according to the higher grade pay in the deputation post, will that be reduced according to the lower grade pay of the parent cadre in the event of repatriation of the employee to the parent office?

    Members please reply

She is not eligible for FPI. To be eligible for FPI, the individual has to be in service.
