Trojan Virus

Dear Sirs,

Some how the Trojan virus has crept into the bootsector of my PC.

This has caused my computer to slow down and causes other inconveniences.

I had AVG anti-virus. It appears that this virus has come while using internet.

which is the best anti-virus that I can purchase and get it installed?

Mine is a Pentium IV.

Should I call an Engineer or is there any way I myself can do it?

Do you know the name of the Trojan? If you can identify the Trojan it would be easier to deal with it.

jvg / avg may resolve ur problem. otherwise u may download norton 2009 free 90 days version from net & install it.

How about Avira or Avast? Are these antiviurs packages are effecient against trogens?

Thank you for the response. I shall try norton 2009, I think. Meanwhile, I want to PURCHASE a anti-virus, IF REQUIRED. So advise me on this.

I was told

QHEAL net edition is better
then there is CASPER or KASPER

Then AVG

Then I am now hearing about AVAST

The name of the virus is Trojan horse Generic17.CJG

The message I get (through AVG ) is

"Detected on open"

and is residing in E:\Windows\System32\msinfo.exe

Can I delete this file?

It gets into memory each time I boot my PC.

You can do the following

1. In control panel System >Turn off System Restore first. If not the Trojan will get into system again.
2. You can deal with it through AVG only. It will be removed & will not - hopefully- get back again
3. If necessary you get a Rootkit scanner via Google to check
4. AVG is good, Avast also. Both free versions are efficient
5. Use Firefox with NoScript for browsing

You are welcome. There is a good free program called Stinger. Download & run it. It detects almost all Trojans.
