Is the Govt trying to exploit Pensioners to counter the Global Economic Downturn? Hiking the subscription rates for life-time coverage from Rs.18000 to Rs.60000: a hike of 330% ! I don't think any pensioner has got this kind of an increase in his Pension. This is simply ridiculous.

The revision is only for those who retire after 01/06/2009 and the amount quoted for mostly for those in the PB-4 category (except GP 7600/-). They have got a very handsome jump when compared to others. Further, all of them are eligible for private wards in all indoor treatment and Direct consultation with Specialists.

With all these benefits available on a cashless condition on production of the CGHS card, and comparing with the Health Insurance Charges for the Senior Citizens charged by the Insurance Firms and the Period of cover (life time cover for self, spouse and any other dependents) I feel that the amount is not that high. Those drawing the GP of 4600-6600 will pay Rs. 39000/- only.

I feel Increase from RS 18000 to 60000 with out notice is an injustice.Even those retired earlier (say april 09 ) still not enrolled as on 1/6/09 have to suffer since GO was dated 20 May 09 . All retirees have to raise this issue for redressel
