hi PKR/all

Why become Major or Lt Generals to draw 'mutilated' or less pensions. Retire as Brigs. That is the policy of Govt.! What a tragedy?
Here are some comments from Service bloggers:

What a piece has been this pension document!! Mrs .... and party have created somthing to admire at. Look at Retiring pension chart after page 80. A Colonel will be drawing double the pension of a Lt. Col. and more pension than even Lt. Gen. at 27.5 yrs of service. Why should one sweat to become a Gen or for that matter a Brig even. Ms ..... and party knows nothing about the whole thing and what ever the clerks are presenting her after typing she is signing. She has shown that not only her foresight and wisdom in ruining the moral of armed forces of her own country is poor but also her knowledge of the subject she is handling is pathetic.

The anomalies are probably due to the weighting factor which gradually reduces as the rank increases.
The typical solution that the government will effect is to make the senior's pension same as that of the lesser rank .
This is what was done to Maj Gens (who then fought & won a case in the supreme court) after the 5th pay commission when they made the Maj Gen's pension same as a Brig.
The correct thing to do is to make the pension same as the newly retiring person's pension of the same rank.
The problem here is that then they have to do it for every rank(which obviously they dont want to do)
We will be seeing lot of court cases again. What we need is a class action suit by all (Civ,mil etc

My dear Ranganathan and Vnatarajan. I am a new user to this string. While reading the note of Mr. Ranganathan, I found that the pension of Major General has been mentioned as 26150. However, when I referred the OM and its Annexure II, I found that the pension of Colonel would be 26050, Brigadier 26150 and that of Major General and Lt. General, it would be 24566. Thus pension of Major General and Lt. General would be less than that of Brigadier. This is happening since 5th CPC and that is why Major Generals have gone to SC through SPS Vense and SC's verdict given on 09 09 08, is also favorable to them. Even than Govt. has not done anything so far. That is why pre2006 pensioners are suffering, even in Defence forces. One more thing. VI CPC has recommended and Govt. has accepted now that the pay of Major General on promotion from Brigadier, would be fixed now taking into account MSP (Rs.600). Thus post 06 retirees of Major Genral rank, would get higher pension than the Brigadier. In any case, point that Mr. Ranganathan has made is correct. Pre06 Pensioners from Defence and all other Ministries are made to suffer by the Govt. with the issue of OM dated 03 10 08 and nobody is ready to listen to our appeals.

I am sorry for the mistake in my previous post. The MSP has been mentioned as 600, which is wrong. It should be 6000. I apologise for the mistake.
