i am working in central govt organisation. I am eligible for travel by II ac train. recently i have tour plan for me and only one train was there from my starting station " S " to destination station "D" with class III AC and no tickets are available . So i have travel in air and claimed II ac train fare. But my accounts dept settled me with III ac train fare only. kindly some clarify this is correct??

My queries are as follows:

1) There is an intermediate station called " I " in the direct route from "S to "D"

2) My eligible II aC class trains are available between "S" to "I" wait for 6-7 hrs then catch train "I" to "D".
3) whether any SR book tells travel to be in by single train. or multiple trains are allowed.
My accounts department is telling for rational calcualtion like this they will take only direct train starting from source to destination, maximum availability class. What this unjustification??

I have travel by air (By Air India) whose orginal fare is less than telescopic II AC train fare from source to destination. Also i have saved one day hotel accomadation (1000 odd bucks). Can anyone show me the rule page which states about direct route, whereas all rule book i saw states only about" shortest route" not direct route.
Kindlyclarify with necessary rule evidences

Its only for LTC that shortest route proviso is there, for tour there is no such restriction. Based on exigency, the controlling authority can sanction longer route, higher class etc
