Never come across any such restriction. Moreover, when GPF become due as final payment it is employees booty which he may consensually get adjusted in regard to outstanding govt. dues.

We all know that we can not adjust/deduct any amount from the GPF towards any dues. But if the employee consents, then let him on one hand RECEIVE the GPF dues and PAY BACK the Govt. Dues on the other hand (i.e. on the same day), which can be remitted to the Treasury (through MRO). So where is the problem?

Consensual adjustment of Govt dues from the GPF payout is permissible.

Problem is that the employee does not have sufficient fund to pay the dues. He consent is to adjust the dues from GPF balance.
