The latest order of child care states that the E.L if availed earlier can be converted to Child Car leave. Can all the earned leave availed for personal purpose or LTC purpose also be converted to child care leave or only the leave availed for illness of child or exam s time of child has to be converted to child care leave. Does female employee eligible for conversion of leave availed for personal purpose...no clear cut guidelines..pl. help

As per the clarification dated 7/9/2010, Earned Leave availed by women employees before availing CCL subsequent to issue of OM dated 18/11/2008 may be adjusted against CCL.

So in my view, any EL availed after 18/11/2008 for the purpose of looking after the child and after exhausting the same, CCL was availed, then the same can be converted into CCL.

Child care leave no doubt a bonanza for women employees. As per earlier orders child care leave was admissible only after one has to exhaust all the leave. This condition has now been removed. Any women employee who has toaken leave of kind due for child care in order to exhasust her leave to be eligible to avail child care leave can nlow convrt it into child care leave. The earned leave so cfredited can be availaed off for any purpose

In a clarification to the CCL, Government issued OM dated 18-11-2008 in which it was stated that “CCL can be availed only if the employee concerned has no Earned Leave at her credit.” This condition has now been deleted by the new OM dated 7-9-2010 and said that Earned availed subsequent to the OM dated 18-11-2008 by employees eligible for CCL can be converted to CCL. Hence Earned Leave taken by eligible employees from 18-11-2008 for personal purpose can be converted to CCL.

Prior to this order, any EL taken only for taking care of child, can be converted into Child Care Leave. EL taken for other personal reasons, etc. cannot be converted. Mr.Victor has rightly said: leave taken for looking after child.
