Reference recent orders reg. LTC Guidelines.

It is mentioned that "LTC-80 ticket of Air India only to be purchased." If someone travels by cheaper class (SAP class) as compared to XEIP Class which is available for LTC-80 scheme, is it admisible.

There are few classes which are certainly cheaper as compared to XEIP in LTC-80.

Can one travel by cheaper class in Air India/Indian Airlines.

Kindly clarify.

You can purchase any ticket from Indian Airlines/Air India under LTC 80 scheme. However, where there is LTC 80 ticket is unavailable IA/AI Fare XEIP/GEIP is considered as LTC80 fare and is admissble

It is advisable to purchase tickets under LTC-80 scheme only as PAO officials are generally narrow minded and would clear the bills only if the ticket indicates LTC-80. The argument that SAP class is cheaper may not help as airline rates varies daily and there is no fixed chart for various sectors indicating the fare under LTC-80 scheme. So there is no way to conclude that the ticket bought under SAP class is cheaper than LTC-80 category.

SAP class is cheap because this is issued for particular dates. For example, LTC-80 is more than Rs. 7000 one way for Delhi-Chennai sector whereas SAP is only around Rs. 4100. Your guidance that it should better be bought under LTC-80 because of technical reasons is correct. However, I have already travelled by Air India on SAP tickets, that is why I was clearing this doubt.
