Dear Sirs,

A friend of mine has asked as to whether there is any rule that women employees should not be asked to work in the office after 5.30 PM.

I do not know

Is there any? If so, what and where?

There is no specific rule which interalia prohibit a women employee to be in office beyond normal hours. generally women employees are exempted from late sitting on huminitarian ground.

Thank you Mr. Pathak.

[ I think, due to shortage of manpower and heavy workload, when asked to sit late and finish the work, the women employee(s) is/are challenging the authority and therefore this question came up. I also thought the same as your reply, like there appears to be no rule that Gazetted officers need not sign the attendance, there appears to be no rule on the subject raised by me].

as per factories act women employees cannot be detained in office beyond 7 pm and if compelled to do so then transportation facility has to be given to them

I feel the point expressed by Mr. Pathk is pertinent.
