Promotion should change grade pay or not

Sir,
I got promotion to grade pay 4600.
But my existing grade pay is already upgraded from 4200 to 4600 (from 1.1.2006).
Then what should be my new grade pay.It should be 4800 ?

I want two know whether grade pay could be same even after promotion.If yes then what is the benefits i got from promotion ?

If the post to which you have been promoted carries the grade pay of Rs.4800, then you are entitled for grade pay of Rs.4800/-. The orders of MACPS provides that once regular promotion is awarded the grade pay pertains the promotional post be given
