my wife was on maternaty leave from 27-06-2009 to 23-12-2009 and extend two months EL FROM 24-12-2009 TO 21-02-2010. her annual increment that was due on 1 july 2009 was given on 22-02-2010. i want to know that

whether she will get her next increment on 1 july 2010 or not (as somebody told me that it is necessary to do duty for atleast 6 months during a year to get increment)?

if not , then when she will get next increment ?

Mr Dev Singla

Your wife will definitely get her next increment on 1.7.2010.

It is not necessary that the official should work for 6 months to be eligible for the increment. Only thing is he/she should not be on leave (except CL/RH/CH) on 1st July of the year. If the official happened to be on leave, the monetory benefit of the increment will accrue from the date of reporting for duty.

Dear friend,

The period of EOL availed other than on medical grounds or for prosecuting higher studies will not count for increment. Maternity leave and EL shall count for increment.

one of my friend on casual leave on 1 st july 2010. His office denies to give his normal increment on 01.07.10 as he was on leave. But my view is that he is entitle to get his normal increment as he was on casual leave not earned leave. Please reply with authority ,whether his office is correct or not.

Casual leave is availed on a casual basis. Apart from this, RH, compensatory off and Gen holidays does not attract denial of increment benefits. Many of the departments including my department does not consider these leaves at the time of sanctioning of the increment.

Dear Friend,

Casual leave is not a recognized form of leave and is not subject to
any rules made by the Government of India. An official on Casual
Leave is not treated as absent from duty and pay is not intermitted
