Dear Sir,
I am a CGHS benecifiary Central Govt. employee and suffering from Diabetic.. Since September 2008, I was continuously visit to Govt approved Polyclinic (P.G. Polyclinic) for my treatment (OPD). During the period I was consumed the prescribed medicine of Polyclinic specialist Doctor.

In December, 2009, I have submitted the medical claim for reimbursement with necessary cash memo of medicines alongwith essentiality certificate duly signed from the Polyclinic authority and testing report bill which was permitted in advance by my office.

The bill has returned by my office mentioning " No reimbursement shall be made for Medicine as a CGHS beneficiary".

On the context above, I want to know from your goodself that if the treatment have done from Govt approved Polyclinic and purchased medicine from local market directly for better treatment,
Is it not permitted for reimbursement as per our Govt Rule (CGHS) ?
If permitted please send me the procedure for reimbursement the same.

Thanking you.

Dear friend,

CGHS beneficiaries are required to avail the services of CGHS for OPD treatment. In case of specialist treatment on specific reference by CGHS, the medicines prescribed by the approved hospitals will also have to be obtained only from CGHS dispensary. In the event of non-availability of these medicines, the beneficiary can buy the same from open market for reimbursement by CGHS. There can not, however, be any claim under CCS (MA) Rules on this count.
